Toyota Urban Cruiser Latest Updates : Toyota is transforming the Urban Cruiser from a traditional compact SUV into a modern electrified family of vehicles. The biggest news is the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser EV — a dedicated battery-electric SUV expected to launch in India around March 2026. This EV is based on the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara platform and will offer two battery options (around 49 kWh and 61 kWh) with competitive driving ranges — possibly up to 500 km on a single charge, making it a strong rival to other affordable electric SUVs in the segment. It’s set to be produced locally at Suzuki’s Gujarat facility and is tipped to be priced roughly between ₹20 – ₹25 lakh. The Urban Cruiser EV is also expected to come with a comprehensive safety kit including six airbags, ADAS features (like adaptive cruise and lane assistance), and 360° cameras which could push Toyota’s appeal in the EV market.      Meanwhile, the existing Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder — the petrol/mild-hybrid/strong-hybrid compact SUV — continues to receive iterative updates for 2025-2026. Recent upgrades include more standard safety equipment (like six airbags across all variants), enhanced interior comfort features such as 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, rear door sunshades, ambient cabin lighting, upgraded infotainment with more connectivity and USB-C fast chargers, and better instrumentation. AWD versions now come with a 6-speed automatic gearbox replacing the previous manual option. These updates improve comfort and practicality while keeping the Hyryder competitive in India’s hot compact SUV market.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is a compact SUV designed primarily for urban and semi-urban environments. Built through a collaboration between Toyota and Suzuki, it’s based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza platform, tailored with Toyota’s styling cues and brand reliability. The Urban Cruiser appeals to city drivers with its compact dimensions, high seating position, and efficient petrol engine, making it easy to navigate crowded streets while offering the elevated feel of an SUV. Under the hood, the Urban Cruiser typically comes with a 1.5-liter petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission
